The event recognizes the performance of banks and other agencies in enrolling subscribers under the government-backed pension scheme, which targets workers in the unorganised sector.
The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) held the Atal Pension Yojana Annual Felicitation Programme in New Delhi on Saturday, recognising the performance of banks and other agencies in enrolling subscribers under the government-backed pension scheme (PIB).
The event honours institutions that have achieved significant enrolment targets under the Atal Pension Yojana (APY), which is designed to provide a defined pension to workers in the unorganised sector. Administered by the PFRDA, the scheme guarantees a minimum monthly pension ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 to subscribers upon reaching the age of 60, depending on their contributions.
The annual felicitation serves as a mechanism to incentivise the distribution network—primarily banks and the Department of Posts—responsible for onboarding subscribers. The PFRDA uses the platform to review outreach strategies and address operational challenges in expanding the scheme’s footprint among informal economy workers who lack access to formal social security coverage.
