India Observes 80th Independence Day Amid Official Commemorations and Awards

The President approved 78 gallantry awards, including 13 posthumous honors, and 89 Mention-in-Despatches on the eve of the milestone anniversary, recognizing bravery and service (PIB). These awards, announced ahead of the national holiday, honored personnel from the armed forces and paramilitary units for acts of valor during counter-insurgency operations, disaster relief efforts, and border deployments.
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah presented the President’s Colours to the Puducherry Police, a ceremonial honor bestowed upon units demonstrating exceptional service and discipline (PIB).
