Karnataka NEET Aspirant Alleges Discrepancies in Re-Exam OMR Sheet

A Karnataka NEET aspirant has alleged a discrepancy in the evaluation of their exam, claiming they attempted 165 questions but the OMR sheet reflects only 41 responses. The Indian Express reported on the student's allegation of a potential scam regarding the tabulation of results.
Karnataka NEET aspirant Bindushree Pawar, a student from Hangal in Haveri district, has alleged that her OMR sheet and exam timings were manipulated in the NEET-UG re-examination held on June 21. Pawar, who appeared for the retest after the original examination was cancelled due to a question paper leak, told indianexpress.com that she attempted 165 of the 180 questions but was shocked to find her result showed only 11 marks (Indian Express).
According to Pawar, the provisional answer key indicated she should have scored 668 marks. However, the final OMR sheet released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) reflected that she had attempted only 41 questions, all recorded within a single minute between 1:56 pm and 1:57 pm (Indian Express). "The bubbling shown on the OMR sheet is very different from how I do it. The fingerprint also seems to be overlapped," Pawar said, adding that her entry and exit times at the centre were also recorded incorrectly (Indian Express).
Pawar’s father, Jagadeesh Pawar, said his daughter had secured 680 marks in the initial NEET 2025 attempt before it was cancelled. "Of the 180 questions, she attempted 165, but the OMR sheet shows only 41," he said. He claimed they had sent three emails to the NTA and tried its helpline but received no response. "It is nothing but a scam. I am worried about my daughter’s life," he said, citing recent student suicides linked to the exam results (Indian Express).
The family approached P S Raju, principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Haveri, and the NTA’s nodal officer, immediately after results were announced on July 16. Raju confirmed he had checked with the examination centre and found the signature on the attendance sheet appeared the same, but noted the candidate had alleged it was rigged. He said the candidate would be responded to directly by the NTA (Indian Express).
District Additional Deputy Commissioner L Nagaraj said a review of CCTV footage from the examination centre confirmed Pawar sat inside the hall for the full three-hour duration. "We have written to the NTA’s grievance cell and are waiting for their response," Nagaraj told indianexpress.com (Indian Express). The NTA released a provisional answer key following the re-exam, but the agency has not yet issued a public statement addressing Pawar’s specific allegations regarding the OMR discrepancy or the timestamp anomaly.
